Former Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has advised Kai Havertz on how he can succeed in his new role as No. 8 in Arsenal’s midfield.
Xhaka wants the Germany international to be calm for him to excel at Arsenal, adding that it takes time to fully understand manager Mikel Arteta’s philosophy
Havertz arrived at Emirates in a £65 million deal from Chelsea last summer.
He was handed the task of replacing Xhaka, who left the Gunners to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
“I know what it is like for Kai, when people on the outside are a little bit nervous and the fans get restless,” Xhaka told The Athletic.
“He just needs to stay calm. It’s a new position for him and it takes time to fully understand Mikel’s philosophy. But he is getting better all the time and his confidence is coming back now.
“Everyone knows his potential but having the confidence of your club, your manager, and your teammates is everything. You always need that backing.”
